UPDATE #7

Sunday, 7 April 2019

This week has been busy, to say the least. I have been hugely anticipating this week due to the photoshoot and video shoot scheduled for week 7. After in depth planning and preparation during last week, I feel ready to undergo these tasks and produce professional imagery that fulfils the aims and objectives of my FMP.

Tuesday - PHOTOSHOOT

I arrived in Manchester at around 9am and met with my assistant for the day (George),  and headed to the studio. After unpacking, we began to hang all of the garments up into the looks and steamed any creases out. The models started to arrive around 10am and had their make-up done by the MUA I had organised for the shoot, Gemma. The photographer was booked in for 11am, which gave us all time to prepare for shooting. I asked the models to get into their first looks and the shoot began. I decided to pick the pale blue backdrop to comply with the branding of Mind and Levi's, and chose to feature the studio in the frame too, giving a rustic and undone vibe. Unfortunately, one male model did not turn up and so rather than 4 models, I was left with 3. Initially I was gutted, but it actually didn't effect the shoot at all and I had the contingency plan in place, hence why I made sure to book 2 male & 2 female models. After the shoot was over, we packed up and headed to Primark to return the few garments that weren't purchased online and then grabbed a train home. Overall, I am pleased with how the pictures looked from what I could tell, and I am excited to get them back!

I have created a schedule for the video shoot:

Sunday - VIDEO SHOOT

I was feeling much more calm in apprehension of the video shoot (rather than the photoshoot), as i could rely on the actors turning up as they were all friends. We were scheduled to shoot from 2pm, and the team met in Nantwich to begin on time. As with all projects, things can change last-minute and the location for each planned shot did in fact change on set. This was not a problem necessarily, but i could tell that my videographer had a clear vision of how the film should look, so i let him lead the way. On reflection, i wish i had taken control a little more and directed the shots with more dominance. The videographer dismissed my idea of using the shoulder-down idea (see research file) and i trusted that the narrative would still make sense. Due to getting caught up in the shoot, a mistake was made and i forgot to swap the actors' t shirts over. However, this was quickly resolved and we re-filmed parts of the video.  I am excited to see the final cut of the video, but i am also worried it won't be how i envisaged.
